FOOD PANTRY HYGIENE DRIVE - 2020, 2021,2022, & 2023

Partnered with the Food Pantry of the Silver Spring Christian Reformed Church to conduct a Hygiene drive which services over 600 families in the Montgomery County, Maryland Area. Toiletry items were requested and provided to help families struggling to make ends meet. We collected, assembled, and delivered 300 individual groups of facial tissue, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, liquid hand soap, dish soap, as well as toothpaste for families in need.

Hashtag Lunch Bag – 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, & 2023

#hashtaglunchbag is a global movement that empowers everyday people in their local community to spread love, one lunch bag at a time.  The Winter Invitational participants will make 300+ lunches for individuals and their families in the community.  The donation is delivered to Martha’s Table and Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless.

Back To School Tennis Play Day – 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, & 2023

Provided a day of quick start tennis, fitness, nutrition education, games, arts and crafts, and food for students of the school. This was a kick off to get the students participating in the tennis school program. The Takoma Education campus registered as a USTA Organization Member and began a schools program with the PE Teacher as the instructor.

Operation Gratitude - Holiday for Hero’s – 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, & 2023 

Donated Halloween candy to our troops over seas.  Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000+ care packages to Veterans, First Responders, New Recruits, Wounded Heroes, their Care Givers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home. Each package is filled with food, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, as well as personal letters of support. The mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the Military and First Responder communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for civilians anywhere in America to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation. Each package contains donated product valued between $45 and $100 and costs our organization $15 to assemble and ship. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 1.6 Million Care Packages. 

Thanksgiving Food Drive – 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, & 2022

Donated $25.00 to purchase full cooked Thanksgiving meals from Boston Market as well as table settings for 5 families in need identified by the Takoma Education Campus. The Excellence Team spent time with the families and presented the meals to them at the school.

Thanksgiving Warm clothing Drive – 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, & 2022

Collected and donated hats, gloves, and scarves to over 30 students at the Takoma Education Campus during the Thanksgiving Holiday season by the school.

Christmas Food Drive – 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, & 2022

Donated $25.00 to purchase fully cooked Christmas meals from Boston Market as well as table settings for 5 families in need identified by the Takoma Education Campus. The Excellence Team spent time with the families and presented the meals to them at the school.

Christmas Coat Drive -– 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, & 2022

Collected and donated coats to over 30 students at the Takoma Education Campus during the Christmas Holiday Season. The Christmas coats were distributed at a Holiday party at the school which included Christmas Caroling, Wii games, Christmas story telling time, arts and crafts, lunch, snacks, and Christmas cookies.

Christmas Stocking Stuffer Drive – 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, & 2022

Donate small toys and stocking stuffers and stuff 40 stockings.  C-4 (Colesville Council of Community Congregations) is an interfaith affiliation of congregations in the Colesville, MD area which maintains a clothes closet and baby closet of used items where needy residents can shop for clothing and household items.  The organization also sponsors a backpack drive to provide school supplies for low-income students.  Toy Distribution during the Holiday season is a joy-filled project of C-4. Throughout the year, churches and synagogues collect toys and cash for this endeavor.  Just prior to the climax of the Holiday Season, the less fortunate in the community are eligible to “shop” for one new toy for each of their children ages 1 year to 12 years.  Each child is also provided with a stocking.
